Israeli Minister of Education Meets with Russian Scientific Community in MSU
Israeli Minister for Education Gideon Sa'ar visited Moscow in the end of September. Main point of the minister's visit schedule was UNESCO international conference on educational issues. He had also planned meetings with Russian leadership and representatives of Jewish educational structures and organizations.
Within the scope of his Moscow visit Mr. Sa'ar on Sep 29th met with a group of prominent Russian specialists in the field of academic Jewish studies and education, and also with teachers, lecturers and students. The meeting took place at the Jewish Studies Department (head - prof.Arkady Kovelman) of the Institute for Asian and African Studies (MSU).
Among participants of the meeting was prof. Michael Chlenov, Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the State Classical Maimonides Academy; Mr. Leonid Katsis, associate professor of the Center for Biblical and Jewish Studies, Russian State University for the Humanities; Mrs. Victoria Mochalova, Director of the Sefer Center; Mr. Alexander Feigin, Rector of the XXI University; prof. Cyril Aslanov (Hebrew University of Jerusalem); Ms. Marina Suslova, prpresenting Genesis charity foundation, and many more.
During the meeting the Minister was briefed on the activities of various educational institutions offering programs in Jewish Studies
