Round Table Discussion "Digital Humanities in Jewish Studies"
Round table discussion, organized by the Sefer Center, Research Center of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center and Institute of Slavic Studies (RAS) will be held on June, 30.
Modern research in the field of digital humanities (Digital Humanities) ensures the preservation of cultural heritage with the help of computer technology, as well as improves data analysis methods, their structuring and access to information (via electronic databases), significantly expands and changes usual research practices in many scientific fields. The results obtained let us raise new research questions and apply new approaches to humanities.
During the discussion, specialists in anthropology and ethnography, epigraphy and semitology, media monitoring and analysis will discuss a wide range of issues:
- which electronic databases on Jewish studies have been created in Russia in recent years,
- how relevant are digital studies in general in the current conditions,
- are there any changes in research fieelds and is there a return to pre-pandemic practices,
and many other questions.
The event will be held with the support of the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society, provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.
