International Conference "Jewish Field: Experience and Conceptualisation"
“Sefer” Center and the Center for Slavic-Judaic Studies of the Institute of Slavic Studies (RAS) in cooperation with the Research Center of the Jewish Museum and Center for Tolerance organised the International conference "Jewish Field: Experience and Conceptualization". The event took place on November, 9-10 with the financial support of Genesis Philanthropy Group.
The fourth field conference was dedicated to the specificity of organising field research of contemporary Jewish communities across the post-Soviet space. We continued to discuss the peculiarities of the "Jewish" field and introduced new studies in Jewish anthropology, folklore, linguistics, sociology, epigraphy and archeology. We summed up the results of the 2021 field research season and considered prospects and plans for new studies. The effects of Global Pandemics on field research methods and approaches were discussed (including the specificities of the online field and internet research).
New article collections and books based on recent field research were presented by participants at the closing session.
The conference was organised in online format.
