Conference " Jewish field research 2019: theoretical and empirical framework»

The international conference "Jewish field research 2019: theoretical and empirical framework" was held on December 4-5, 2019. Organizers of the Conference were  Centre "Sefer" in cooperation with the Jewish Museum and the Tolerance center and the Center for Slavic-Jewish studies of the RAS Institute of Slavic studies. The conference was held with the support by the Genesis Philanthropy Group, the Russian Jewish Congress and A. I. Klyachin.

The conference covered issues related to the organization of field research and work in modern Jewish communities of the post-Soviet space. The specifics of the "Jewish" field were identified, and new research in the field of Jewish archaeology, anthropology, folklore, linguistics, sociology, and epigraphy was reviewed. The researchers spoke about the results of the 2019 summer season, prospects and plans for new research. At the end of the conference, participants presented new collections of articles and monographs based on field materials of recent years.

The conference was attended by 22 speakers from Russia, Germany, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Poland and France.
