Sefer Center & the L.A. Pincus Fund present videolectures project

Dear friends and collegues!

We are proud to share the information about our new project that will be carried out with the kind financial assistance of The L.A. Pincus Fund for Jewish Education in the Diaspora, Israel.

The aim of the project is to use the Internet to facilitate access to Jewish Studies in Russian, and to make this knowledge available to a wider audience, independently of time and place. As part of the project we record a series of lectures on Jewish History and Jewish Civilization, delivered by academics who are experts in the subject areas on which they will speak.  Among them Z. Khanin, V. Mesamed, Z. Kopelman, S. Kocer, E. Satanovsky, A. Kovelman, L. Katzis, A. Lokshin, V. Petrukhin and many others.

The mini-courses will be included in following subjects:

the first year of the project:  Jews and Khazars-- Archaeology; A Social and Demographic Picture of Israeli Society-- A History and the Present Situation; Jews in the Contemporary World-- Identity and Crisis; The History of Russian Zionism; Jews in Eastern Europe in the 19th and 20th Century; Jewish Culture in the Ancient World; Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust; Contemporary Higher Education in the State of Israel.

the second year of the project: Jews in the Hellenic World; Jews in the Russian Empire-- Memories, Journals, Archives; Jewish Religious and Social Thought-- Religion, Civilization, Evolution; The Jewish National Movement in the USSR; Jews in the Medieval Era-- History and Culture; Jews and Their Neighbors in Eastern Europe; Jewish Art; Contemporary Higher Education in the State of Israel.

During the two following years over 30 lectures will be published on our website in the Videogallery. Of course, an access to the videolectures is free of charge. The website is  interactive and includes a Forum which offers an opportunity for those who listen to the lecture to ask questions and to make comments.

Please note that  some of the lectures are already available. Watch the videos, make comments, open discussions, raise questions, share them to your friends!
