Expedition on Jewish Epigraphy to Azerbaijan (Quba/ Krasnaya Sloboda,August 17-29, 2025)

We are opening a competitive selection for participation in the field school-expedition on Jewish epigraphy in Azerbaijan, August 15–28, 2026.

The expedition is organized by the Sefer Center with the support of the STMEGI International Charitable Foundation and the Mountain Jewish community of Krasnaya Sloboda.

The organizers cover the costs of accommodation, meals, transfer from Baku to Krasnaya Sloboda (Quba) and back, as well as the cultural program. Travel to and from Baku is purchased by the expedition participants themselves, with partial reimbursement by the organizers.

We invite students, graduate students, and early-career scholars studying the history, culture, and material heritage of Mountain Jews in this region to apply for the school.
