7th Annual Conference Deadline Extended

After a number of requests from the members, the EAIS has chosen to extend the deadline for submitting a paper or panel proposal for the conference to 14 May 2018.

The EAIS 7th Annual Conference on Israel Studies will take place from Sunday, 2 to Tuesday, 4 September 2018 at SOAS University of London. The conference will be held in English.

The aim of the conference is to bring together international scholars from a variety of disciplines, who are engaged in research in any aspect of Israel Studies - including, but not limited to, Politics, Literature, Security, Minorities, Social Sciences, History, Migration Studies, Gender Studies, Economics, Law, Religion, Anthropology, Language, Culture, Film, Music and Art.

The Conference will centre on Israel's year of anniversaries, such as the first Zionist council (1897), the Balfour Declaration (1917), the Peel Commission (1937), the State of Israel (1948), the six-day war (1967), the Camp David Accords (1978), Oslo Accords (1993). By focusing on the idea of historical turning points, the conference aims not only to interrogate these crucial dates and anniversaries but also to reflect and critique the preconceived notions and ways in which we choose to frame history and represent the development of society and culture.

All proposals must be submitted via the website. EAIS aims to come back to successful candidates by 15th June 2018.
