The Department of Jewish Culture at Saint Petersburg State University is delighted to inform you of the conference which will be held by the Department in collaboration with International Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization in St. Petersburg, Russia, on the 30th of June – the 2nd of July, 2016. The conference is oriented for young scholars up to the age of 35, for graduate and postgraduate students.
We invite submissions for an abstract of a research-based paper on theoretic and practical questions of Hebrew/Yiddish language studies, Yiddish and Hebrew literature, the history of Jewish people from the Biblical period to the modernity, including any relevant themes and aspects of the Jewish culture.
The conference is aimed to provide help for researchers-beginners to make their first steps in the field of academic Jewish studies, to share their current research, ideas, and experience with colleagues from different countries and to give an opportunity for discussions with leading specialists in the field of the Jewish studies.
The publication of collection of articles based on the materials of the conference is planned.
Abstract for participation should include the following information: applicant’s full name, information about academic degree (if any), postal address, telephone number and email, theme and abstract about lecture subject (up to 300 words).
Organizing committee will make decision concerning the possibility to indemnify for transport charges for some applicants. Please inform us, whether you need financial support for tickets. The early application increases the odds to get it.

Notification of acceptance/rejection will be sent by the 30th of April, 2016.
Applicants should send their texts one week before the start of the conference. Each session will have moderator, who will analyze reports in advance and give you recommendations for improving your research.
