Seminar "the Second World War and the Holocaust of the Jewish People"
The International School for Holocaust Studies of Yad Vashem is pleased to invite you to apply to take part in the educational seminar on the subject of the Second World War and the Holocaust of the Jewish People. The seminar is organized with the generous support of the Genesis Philanthropy Group and in cooperation with Prof. Oleg Budnitsky, Director of the International Centre for History and Sociology of World War II and its Consequences of the Higher School of Economics.The goal of the seminar is to introduce scientists from the former Soviet Union, with research interests related to recent history, to a variety of approaches to the study and understanding of the Second World War through the prism of Holocaust.
We invite professors, graduate and post-graduate students of History, Sociology, Political Science and Cultural Science at institutes of higher educational in FSU countries to participate in the seminar. Senior students recommended by their supervisor may also apply if their research projects deal with the Second World War and/or the Holocaust.
The seminar program includes:
Lectures and informational units delivered by leading experts in the field from Israel and FSU countries
Workshops and opportunities for sharing experiences
Getting acquainted with the work of Yad Vashem's International Institute for the Holocaust Research and Yad Vashem Archives
Russian-language sightseeing tours in Israel
The seminar will take place from November 2-9, 2015, at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, arrival to Israel on November 1.
The Israeli side will cover all expenses in Israel (participation in the program, accommodation and meals). The participants will be responsible for covering travel expenses and medical insurance.
The seminar will be conducted in Russian. During the lectures in English, simultaneous translation will be provided.
Applications for the seminar should include:
(1) Candidate's name, the name of the research or educational institution, position, postal address and e-mail address;
(2) Curriculum vitae (no more than 2-3 pages, including the list of publications);
(3) A brief cover letter explaining how the candidate's research papers relate to the topic of the seminar (1-2 pages);
(4) Recommendation letters from experts in the relevant fields; for undergraduates, graduate students and senior students - the recommendations of their supervisor.
Please apply by no later than August 1, 2015. Twenty-five (25) candidates will be chosen to take part.

Upon the completion of the seminar, the participants will receive an international certificate of advanced training (90 study hours).
